Our mission is:
(1) to educate the public and profession concerning legal issues arising from the Second Life virtual world;

(2) to study the legal, business, and technical implications of the 3D Internet, including virtual worlds, and the Second Life virtual world in particular;

(3) to offer our members opportunities to meet and discuss the association’s interests with professionals from around the world; and

(4) to promote justice, professional excellence, and the rule of law in Second Life.

Legal Village Under Development

The Second Life Bar Association is working to develop Legal Village, located on the island of Justitia (79, 84, 22) as a resource for both attorneys and the general public.  If you are interested in renting space on the island, please contact Sam Courtois in-world for options and more information.

Virtual Ability CLE coming up!

The SL Bar Association and Virtual Ability are proud to present a seminar for lawyers and others interested in bias in the legal profession. The seminar will take place on March 17, 2010 at 12:00 noon, PDT. Linda Batiste and Beth Loy from the Job Accommodation Network, West Virginia University will be discussing the professional work environment for lawyers with disabilities. They will discuss barriers faced by attorneys with disabilities and what employers need to do in order to accommodate lawyers with disabilities.
