Good afternoon all! I would like to place my name in the running for a position with the Executive Committee for the 2013-2014 term. I have seven years of legal experience and am a Juris Doctor candidate for 2016. I also founded Virtual Dispute Resolution (VDR) in Second Life, which maintains an office in Justitia.
As a Second Life enthusiast, I love the endless possibilities that exist in virtual worlds and digital content creation. But with such endless possibilities comes unchartered legal issues that translate to real life. SLBA plays a vital role in contributing to dialogue on those new legal issues as well as expansion of legal education in Second Life. If elected, I look forward to participating in and furthering SLBA's mission for continued education of its members and the general public on important legal topics that affect both the virtual world and real world.
Hi SLBA, for those who don't know me, I'm Treasure (which is a RL nickname as well as my SL name). I'd like to be considered for a position on the Executive Committee for the upcoming term. I'm a paralegal in RL, and a child support enforcement officer; a subject matter expert in interstate and intercountry child support procedure. I have 30 years of varied legal experience, and just a few years left to retirement in RL, am more than ready for that. I am deaf in RL and hear with the assistance of bilateral cochlear implants. Which makes me a good fit with the sim I manage in SL, Cape Able, which is geared towards helps for all residents with hearing loss (and other disabilities) and owned by Virtual Ability, Inc, a RL non-profit which I sit on the board of, which has a strong presence in SL. I've been an active SL resident since 2007 and have been a member of SLBA most of that time. I have a strong interest in legal issues in the Virtual World, since they often translate to the real world for solutions. I look forward to learning, and hopefully bringing something to the table that is beneficial to SLBA as well.
