[10:06:17] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): My agenda is: 1. membership, 2. upcoming presentations, 3. social events, 4. finances, 5. elections, and 6. the SL Bar Magazine

[10:06:34] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross) goes to refill her cup of coffee

[10:06:52] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we stand at 63 members today, with 38 paid for 2014-2015

[10:06:54] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): I'd like one too, Ellen.

[10:07:05] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we've had 11 new members in the first two months of this year

[10:07:21] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): which is an improvement over new members in recent years

[10:07:32] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we added 3 new members with Agenda's 8-2 presentation

[10:07:37] Faye Blackheart: awesome!

[10:07:38] Agenda Faromet cheers

[10:07:46] Faye Blackheart: That was a popular topic!

[10:07:53] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): I think if we can keep up good presentations, we'll do well this year

[10:08:05] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): but, membership wise, we are doing well.

[10:08:26] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): these are the upcoming presentations for this year

[10:08:36] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i am working on scheduling a couple at the bottom

[10:08:55] Agenda Faromet: Oh, we've got Steven coming in? That's excellent.

[10:08:59] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i think Steve Wu's follow-up on the gaming policy should be of interest

[10:09:06] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): and I hope to get Stevan scheduled soon

[10:09:23] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): let me know if you have any other suggestions for presenters or topics

[10:09:30] SLBA Cup of Coffee : Enjoy your coffee compliments of SLBA

[10:09:49] Agenda Faromet raises her hand.

[10:09:54] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): and also, thank you for everyone that has done a presentation so far for us

[10:09:55] crazyman Karu: I'm glad to see stephen coming in

[10:09:58] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): yes, Agenda?

[10:09:58] Faye Blackheart: I've got a filler presentation if we ever need one... On the constitutionality of punative damages, there is a bit of a circuit split regarding nominal damages ratio to punative damages

[10:10:17] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): faye - how about Jan 2015?

[10:10:24] Faye Blackheart: that would work

[10:10:40] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): great

[10:10:51] Agenda Faromet: Tim, since we had to bump my presentation on trademarks for content creators (which was originally scheduled for last week), can we reschedule that sometime soon? I've had a lot of people asking for it.

[10:10:55] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Just taking a picture of the upcoming activities slide

[10:11:03] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda, yes

[10:11:09] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): when would you like to present?

[10:11:22] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Every month

[10:11:27] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): lol

[10:11:28] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn) grins at Agenda

[10:11:47] Agenda Faromet laughs.

[10:13:08] Agenda Faromet: Hey, if I'm doing too many, let me know. I do want there to be plenty of opportunities for /everyone/ to speak on their topics of expertise, and to bring in great speakers from outside. I just know what I get asked for by SL people who are looking for legal information.

[10:13:33] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): no we are happy to have you talk whenver you would like to

[10:13:35] Faye Blackheart: never too many :)

[10:14:38] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): as an aside, elizabeth, we have a quorum for the minutes

[10:14:42] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): I have sam's proxy

[10:14:55] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Has there been any activity on the SLBA Facebook page that I have missed?  I'd like to see that page more active, especially in announcing meetings and presentations

[10:15:00] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you

[10:15:14] Faye Blackheart: oh i need the link for that

[10:15:18] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ellen - an FB fan page remains on our marketing to do

[10:15:25] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): the two FB pages are inactive that are out there

[10:15:30] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): and no one knows who adminsters them

[10:15:33] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): grrrrrrr

[10:15:38] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): So we can't add a new admin.

[10:15:38] Faye Blackheart: ah nvm, lol

[10:15:39] Agenda Faromet: And I'm good to go whenever there's a gap. I can't do early November, because that's the CA IP Institute, and I can't do anything once December starts, because I've got something massive on my calendar RL.

[10:15:43] Faye Blackheart: I can help with that, if we have access?

[10:16:17] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda, if you want to do one in october, we can set it in for another day that works

[10:16:35] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we are trying other days/times besides first saturdays

[10:17:07] Agenda Faromet: I'd love to do something other than a Saturday. Let me look...

[10:17:11] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): what's good for you?

[10:17:29] Agenda Faromet: That second week of October looks great.

[10:17:43] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): how about the 8th?

[10:17:55] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): 4 or 5pm SLT?

[10:17:57] Agenda Faromet: (...Second full week, starting with the 13th. I should have been more specific.)

[10:18:11] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): how about the 15th?

[10:18:22] Agenda Faromet: The 15th would be perfect.

[10:18:39] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): you bought it

[10:19:06] Agenda Faromet: Awesome. It's on my calendar. Thanks!

[10:19:07] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): (oblique reference)

[10:19:13] Agenda Faromet laughs. Got it.

[10:19:16] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): any one else on presentations?

[10:19:59] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): moving forward

[10:20:09] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i was hoping we could have some social gatherings of the association

[10:20:13] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): as we have done in years past

[10:20:31] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): faye has been working to schedule one with a friend of mine

[10:20:36] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): faye?

[10:20:49] Agenda Faromet: Oh. One side note on presentations: Inara Pey has the transcript up from last week's ToS and gaming presentation, if anyone wants it.

http://modemworld.wordpress.com/2014/08/08/slba-tos-and-skill-gamin...

[10:20:59] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda: Thanks

[10:21:07] Faye Blackheart: Yes, we are planning on scheduling it for next Saturday, perhaps about 5pm SLT, unless someone has a better time to suggest

[10:21:41] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): would folks be able to come next Saturday?

[10:21:51] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we wanted to have it at Winterfell Absinthe

[10:22:04] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): faye and i will get out the LM and all that

[10:22:07] Faye Blackheart: Tim mentioned a themed party might be fun, does anyone have any themes to suggest?

[10:22:14] Agenda Faromet: 5 PM SLT...I might be able to do that!

[10:22:26] Faye Blackheart: Come as your favorite supreme court justice haha, jk

[10:22:33] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): lol

[10:22:42] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross) smiles, trying to plan her Ruth Bader Ginsburg outfit

[10:22:55] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn) laughs

[10:22:56] Agenda Faromet imagines trying to make a Scalia avatar....

[10:23:06] Faye Blackheart: Scalia is going to be in town this month, I'll get to meet him :) Maybe I'll dress up as him haha

[10:23:38] Agenda Faromet: He's going to be at the CA State Bar's annual meeting, and I'll miss it. Awww.

[10:23:41] Faye Blackheart: and I'll dissent against everything anyone says lol

[10:23:51] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross) grins

[10:23:51] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): with scathing commentary as to the majority

[10:23:58] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): lol

[10:24:23] Agenda Faromet: Wait, if you're going as Scalia, I'll have to go as Alito and just follow you around repeating everything you say.

[10:24:29] Faye Blackheart: haha

[10:24:35] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): *giggle* *snort*

[10:24:42] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): (laughs at our inside, nerdy law banter)

[10:24:52] Agenda Faromet: Law nerds are the best, yo.

[10:24:58] Faye Blackheart: Well if anyone thinks of a nice theme, shoot Tim or I an IM... I'll be starting construction this week

[10:25:01] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): smh

[10:25:28] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I have a lot of Tudor outfits to go with a "Star Chamber" theme, but they all belong to my alts :-)

[10:25:39] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ok so our first social will be 8-16-14 at 5pm SLT at Winterfell Absinthe

[10:25:47] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): theme TBD

[10:25:58] Faye Blackheart: perhaps my little pony, if left to my own devices! haha

[10:26:05] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): BRONY!

[10:26:10] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): BRONYCON!

[10:26:16] Faye Blackheart: sadly I do have a brony avi, long story lol

[10:26:34] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I have transferable centaurs

[10:26:41] Agenda Faromet: One observation, and seriously not trying to Debbie Downer all over it: our last party was supposed to have a theme, too, and nobody remembered on the day of. I think it might be enough to just get people to come, at least when we're just starting to get back into the swing of social events again, and then we can brony it up once people are used to being social again.

[10:26:56] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): sure

[10:27:08] Faye Blackheart: Maybe if we made it a simple one...like a black and white ball or something

[10:27:09] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i'm totally coming as a pony, though

[10:27:17] Faye Blackheart: errrr a black and white pony

[10:27:35] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i forget my brony name, but i will plan to be there as a unicron

[10:27:38] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): *unicorn

[10:27:44] Agenda Faromet: (Also side note: Collabor88's theme this month is Greek, so if we wanted to have a toga party, now is the time to buy really awesome and super-cheap togas. Just sayin'.)

[10:28:09] Faye Blackheart: Toga would be fun, haven't been to a toga party since college

[10:28:24] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): take her to the greek!

[10:28:28] Agenda Faromet: Hahaha

[10:28:33] Faye Blackheart: lol

[10:28:55] Agenda Faromet: Do /not/ try to go buy them today, because the sim is packed and you won't get in, but if you wait a week it'll be fine.

[10:28:57] Faye Blackheart: I have memories of wearing togas and taking tequila shots chased with candy orange slices because we had no limes....

[10:29:00] Faye Blackheart: painful memories lol

[10:29:07] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): faye, thank you for coordinating for our social event

[10:29:13] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): For anyone who wants to grab a judge wig, for possible future use:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/AA-0815-Judge-Wig-Creamblonde-...

[10:29:20] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i hope all will join us next saturday

[10:29:34] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ellen, i totally need a judge wig

[10:29:36] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): lol

[10:29:44] Faye Blackheart: you do, for our meetings!

[10:29:49] Agenda Faromet grins at Ellen. "Also, Bare Rose has judge robes, as I recall."

[10:30:02] Faye Blackheart: i have a great mesh judge robe, if anyone wants the link

[10:30:08] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): maybe i will come as judge judy next time

[10:30:17] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn) laughs

[10:30:19] Faye Blackheart: I was judge judy for halloween at the law school party lol

[10:30:25] Agenda Faromet: Judge Judy is my jam.

[10:30:30] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): laughs as the meeting devolves as it always does

[10:30:37] Faye Blackheart: lollll

[10:30:37] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross) grins

[10:30:43] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): moving on to the financials

[10:30:44] Agenda Faromet: Not gonna lie, Judge Judy got me through law school.?뀀꒻얫

[10:31:04] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): the numbers are behind us

[10:31:22] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): our 8-2 presentation generated about L$7,800 in donations

[10:31:23] Agenda Faromet: Also, People's Court. Daily pop quiz in torts, contracts, and property law. I loved that shit.

[10:31:24] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): OK, so the CapitalOne 360 account has been set up

[10:31:26] Faye Blackheart: wow

[10:31:27] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): which is excellent

[10:31:40] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): thank you agenda for your presentation

[10:31:50] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i did setup a capone360 account

[10:31:59] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): That was a great presentation and much needed.  I'm glad it resulted in so many donations!

[10:32:02] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): and the Admin account is now able to pay tier with our paypal/capone account

[10:32:14] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): so we are moving forward with the sim transfer

[10:32:21] Agenda Faromet: Tim, how do our finances compare overall? For instance, are we up or down from this time last year?

[10:32:31] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we also received our first RL donation on the paypal account

[10:32:52] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda, i think we are heading in the positive direction on the finances

[10:32:58] Agenda Faromet: Awesome!

[10:33:27] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i have a list of members that have not yet renewed for the current year

[10:33:37] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): and have instituted a notecard follow-up to pester them on dues

[10:33:46] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i will send out a second dues notice later this month

[10:33:58] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): and for those that have not renewed after that, they will be booted from the group

[10:34:11] Faye Blackheart: are we required to have dues?

[10:34:22] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): they are in the bylaws

[10:34:30] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we could eliminate dues if we so choose

[10:34:46] Faye Blackheart: ah, just curious, since it sucks booting interested people

[10:34:59] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Maybe a period of probation?

[10:35:04] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): And then we will really not be able to pay for anything.

[10:35:14] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Most of the people who don't renew, don't show up for anything.

[10:35:31] Jerkwad Borkotron: I think a lot of people have a problem joining a 500L group

[10:35:46] Agenda Faromet: We bring this up pretty much every year, and argue about dues. I'd love to argue about them again.

[10:35:53] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Some may have originally joined as one alt and then switched to another and stopped getting the notices because they don't log in as the original one

[10:36:07] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda - lol

[10:36:36] Agenda Faromet grins. "I think you all know my position on our dues. If you don't...I am oh so happy to share!"

[10:36:38] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): It's like $2.50 Real Life money.. It's a professional association. I would hope that $2.50 doesn't make or break the bank.

[10:36:46] Agenda Faromet is known to keep her opinions to herself, you know.

[10:36:50] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): lol

[10:36:53] Faye Blackheart giggles

[10:37:01] Faye Blackheart: I opened up the can of worms, my bad lol

[10:37:07] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I was just saying to my RL husband that it's about $2.50 when Elizabeth posted the same thing!

[10:37:12] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): is there a motion on dues from the floor?

[10:37:31] Faye Blackheart: I'd support a probationary period

[10:37:39] Jerkwad Borkotron: Right as a professional association dues are no problem but if you want other people in SL to join 500L is a lot this pretty much keeps it closed to attorneys and crazy people :)

[10:37:39] Faye Blackheart: rather than boot, but that's just me

[10:37:48] crazyman Karu: sorry, i was afk for a bit

[10:37:58] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Maybe we should have two groups, one for interested non-attorneys?

[10:37:58] Agenda Faromet: It's not about making or breaking the bank. It's about what is standard practice in this environment. It is unheard of in Second Life to require /repayment/ of a group fee. Our group fee is astronomical for SL -- no one has a fee this high -- and we ask people to repay it every year.

[10:38:09] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): I think people can pay it.

[10:38:19] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): It isn't a lot to ask for what we provide.

[10:38:29] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I agree Geri.

[10:38:38] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Maybe a "friends of the SLBA" group for the non-attorneys in addition to the attorneys' group?

[10:38:41] Jerkwad Borkotron: Right but you don't need to join the group to participate in what you provide

[10:38:55] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Joining a group is useful, though, for getting notices

[10:38:56] Agenda Faromet: That means that we will only get people in our group who are accustomed to paying annual bar dues...but we do not provide the same services (actual CLE credits) that a bar association provides.

[10:38:58] Faye Blackheart: but to get notices they need to be in the group..

[10:39:01] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): True, so if folks don't want to join, they don't have to.

[10:39:04] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): So no pressure.

[10:39:15] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Exactly Geri.

[10:39:32] Agenda Faromet: ...And if folks don't join the group, they don't get our notices, so they don't know about our events, so they don't come to our events, so they don't donate....

[10:39:38] Faye Blackheart: we'd reach more people with notices if we weren't booting them for not paying dues

[10:39:44] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): We could set up a non-group subscriber - I don't think we have one of those

[10:40:00] Jerkwad Borkotron: I agree with Agenda 100%

[10:40:03] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): so that people can subscribe for notices.  A lot of the merchants have those, and they don't use up a group slot

[10:40:05] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): My thought on this topic is that for those who want to change the dues, we have a group meeting with suggestions and come back in September with a proposal for a vote

[10:40:06] Faye Blackheart: we could just have a separate tag for paying members

[10:40:15] Agenda Faromet: So we're effectively cutting ourselves off from people who would gladly pay /more/ for our services (through donations) /AND/ from people who cannot pay for our services but desperately need our help.

[10:40:18] Faye Blackheart: keep everyone in the group for marketing, and give special member tags to paying members

[10:40:29] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Faye, I like that idea

[10:40:40] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Simpler than setting up a second group or a non-group subscriber

[10:40:45] Faye Blackheart: yeah

[10:40:46] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I think your suggestion is good Tim.

[10:40:48] Agenda Faromet: I like that idea too, Faye.

[10:41:01] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): Faye, Agenda, Ellen, others - if you would like to meet and report back in September, we can do that

[10:41:08] Agenda Faromet: Also, through group management, we can give special benefits for paying members.

[10:41:25] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): I'm amenable to any and all useful suggestions on the topic of dues䏠⇕풧ɍ

[10:41:40] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): but in the interest of time, let's talk separately from today's meting

[10:41:41] Jerkwad Borkotron: right how about if you pay dues then you can rez on the sim

[10:42:06] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): J.B., yes, that's the kind of thing I was thinking

[10:42:12] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): unless there is a motion from the floor?

[10:42:16] crazyman Karu: 500L is nothing, but in SL it's completely different. What you provide is worth alot more, but the fee does act as a deterrent for people to join.

[10:42:19] Agenda Faromet: The sim group is actually different from the SLBA group....but it doesn't have to be.

[10:42:31] Faye Blackheart: I'd move for opting for member tags rather than evictions from the group

[10:42:34] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): That is going to have to be changed anyway

[10:42:35] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I am not sure this topic is one we can make a decision on with a 2 minute discussion.

[10:42:46] Faye Blackheart: but we can vote later

[10:42:46] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): since the existing landowning group is Sam's, I believe

[10:42:53] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): Faye has made a motion

[10:42:57] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): is there a second?

[10:42:58] Agenda Faromet grins at Elizabeth. "Yeah, we've been trying to decide it for about three years now..."

[10:43:07] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ...

[10:43:15] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): OK, I will second the motion for member tags

[10:43:17] Agenda Faromet: I can't make motions or seconds, I don't think.

[10:43:26] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): showing paying versus non paying members .... why not?

[10:43:26] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): showing paying versus non paying members .... why not?

[10:43:33] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): very well

[10:43:37] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): all in favor, please say aye

[10:43:40] Faye Blackheart: aye

[10:43:41] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Aye

[[10:44:09] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): The "why not" was directed to Agenda

[10:44:18] Jerkwad Borkotron: aye

[10:44:22] Agenda Faromet: Oh, because I'm not on the exec board.

[10:44:23] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): any opposed?

[10:44:26] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): yes

[10:44:32] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Question: if you have a different tag, then how is that going to work since to join you have to pay at the moment.

[10:44:37] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): I would like to go back to the idea to present ideas for next meeting

[10:44:42] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): This is a general meeting, not the executive board, right?  Or am I confused?

[10:44:45] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I agree Geri.

[10:44:47] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): I think this is kind of rushed

[10:44:50] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Correct Ellen

[10:44:52] Faye Blackheart: that can be fixed in group management

[10:44:53] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): (geri, did you vote "no")

[10:45:00] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn) nods.  No

[10:45:06] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): I mean I voted not

[10:45:07] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): no

[10:45:21] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Me too. No

[10:45:33] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): any abstentions?

[10:46:10] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): well, the motion carries 4 to 2

[10:46:32] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): because this is a general meeting with a quorum, the motion carries

[10:46:42] Jerkwad Borkotron: The problem is getting people to join in the first place with the 500L fee never mind kicking people out if they don't pay dues etc. The fee needs to be dropped as well

[10:46:48] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i will create a new tag and update our non-renewing members to it

[10:47:16] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i move that discussion on dues amounts be tabled today, deferring to a separate discussion before our next monthly meeting in sept

[10:47:23] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I second

[10:47:24] Faye Blackheart nods

[10:47:30] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): all in favor?

[10:47:32] Agenda Faromet: Aye

[10:47:32] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): aye

[10:47:32] Faye Blackheart: aye

[10:47:33] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): aye

[10:47:34] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Makes sense to me.  Aye

[10:47:40] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): aye

[10:47:51] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): any opposed to tabling?

[10:48:01] Jerkwad Borkotron: I'm in favor

[10:48:21] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): very well, the issue of changing the dues is tabled pending next month's meeting

[10:48:34] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): next item: elections

[10:48:40] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Are we forming a subcommittee?

[10:48:46] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): this is the slate, with one change: Ellen is running for treasurer

[10:48:46] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Before we move on to the next item

[10:48:54] Agenda Faromet: (....2014 - 2014?)

[10:49:02] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): and I meant 2014-2015

[10:49:04] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): lol

[10:49:08] Agenda Faromet snickers.

[10:49:26] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ellen?

[10:49:37] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I was asking if, before we move on to elections,

[10:49:51] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): we want to set up a committee to discuss the dues / group tag issues

[10:50:14] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): changes in dues is tabled for a committee to discuss

[10:50:22] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): the group tag motion of faye's passed

[10:50:22] Agenda Faromet: ...Wait, it is?

[10:50:26] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): and the members of the committee are?

[10:50:39] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): What committee?

[10:50:40] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): volunteers from the floor?

[10:50:49] Agenda Faromet: Whoa, slow down, no it wasn't

[10:50:58] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Faye's motion carried.

[10:51:13] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Well, since I"m bringing it up, I will volunteer to be a member of the committee to discuss dues

[10:51:30] Agenda Faromet: Wait, stop.

[10:51:39] Agenda Faromet: The motion was "i move that discussion on dues amounts be tabled today, deferring to a separate discussion before our next monthly meeting in sept"

[10:51:45] Agenda Faromet: /No/ mention of a committee.

[10:51:53] Faye Blackheart: I think my motion was to save non-paying members from eviction... I don't think we decided on dues

[10:51:59] Agenda Faromet: Sorry, gotta be all Robert's Rules here, but we haven't moved on committees.

[10:52:12] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): your point is noted

[10:52:15] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): OK, the "separate discussion" .... how will that be happening?

[10:52:21] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): There was no vote on a committee

[10:52:30] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Correct.

[10:52:31] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Correct, which is why I asked

[10:52:53] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): If we say that there will be a separate discussion, we need to figure out who is doing what, or else nothing will happen

[10:53:12] Agenda Faromet: Because I'm against the idea of a committee. Come on, there are a whopping six people here. If we need to subdivide six people, we're doin' it wrong.

[10:53:13] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): *sigh*

[10:53:18] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Me too

[10:53:30] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Just talk to each other when you can do so.

[10:53:48] Agenda Faromet: ...Six people and a beaver. Sorry.

[10:53:51] Faye Blackheart: lol

[10:53:55] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross) giggles at the amendment

[10:53:55] crazyman Karu: lmao

[10:53:59] Agenda Faromet: Speciesist of me.

[10:54:00] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i will put the issue of dues on next month's agenda for our general meeting

[10:54:02] Jerkwad Borkotron: There are 8 people but 6 lawyers me and crazyman are not people lol

[10:55:07] crazyman Karu: I'm not saying yes or no to anything, i'm leaving it up to those who know how this group well.

[10:55:20] Agenda Faromet: (From where my camera angle is, it just looks like Geri has a /really/ enormous hairdo that keeps moving a lot.)

[10:55:27] Jerkwad Borkotron: ahahhahaha

[10:55:37] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): really?

[10:55:48] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): It seems to me it is the beaver.

[10:55:55] Agenda Faromet laughs.

[10:55:57] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): It is indeed.  It's all a matter of perspective.

[10:56:13] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): No offense, beaver

[10:56:42] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ok, last item: elections

[10:56:54] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): here is the slate, with the one change of Ellen as treasurer

[10:57:04] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): any other changes to the slate?

[10:57:15] Jerkwad Borkotron: I move for Crazyman to be emperor

[10:57:19] crazyman Karu: ...

[10:57:19] crazyman Karu: ...

[10:57:35] Faye Blackheart: I have a suggestion

[10:57:45] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): sadly, the chair notes that emperor is not a position

[10:57:46] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): lol

[10:57:48] Faye Blackheart: since i'm causing all sorts of disruptions today lol

[10:57:59] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): All good and productive ones, Faye :-)

[10:58:24] Faye Blackheart: last election i was made chairman of marketing, but it might be good to formally add it as a position so in the future we can get that position filled with interested people

[10:58:58] Agenda Faromet: Oh, can I formally move for a Chair of Marketing to be added?

[10:59:01] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): That does make sense

[10:59:24] Jerkwad Borkotron: I did a lot of marketing for the last event and I'd say results were decent

[11:00:01] Agenda Faromet: Also, will the Chair of Marketing be in charge of things like organizing presentations, since that is such a big part of drawing people to the group?

[11:00:04] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): yes, jerkwad, we had good attendance

[11:00:08] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ty for helping us with it

[11:00:27] Faye Blackheart: Yes, Agenda, that is definitely part of it

[11:00:33] Agenda Faromet: Awesome.

[11:00:52] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Perhaps for next year, we can include a "CLE Chair" which would allow some time to lay the groundwork necessary for future CLE credit

[11:01:00] crazyman Karu: Well, I need to get going. I have things to do in RL. It was good meeting you all again. Take care

[11:01:05] Faye Blackheart: see ya!

[11:01:09] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ty crazyman

[11:01:10] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Have a good day!

[11:02:42] Agenda Faromet: So...as long as I'm allowed to /make/ the motion, the motion has been made and is waiting for a second.

[11:02:49] Faye Blackheart: I second

[11:02:57] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): very well

[11:03:04] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): all in favor of making a chair of marketing?

[11:03:08] Faye Blackheart: aye

[11:03:11] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Aye

[11:03:19] Agenda Faromet: Aye.

[11:03:36] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Is this a slate nomination?

[11:03:56] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): An addition to the slate

[11:03:57] Agenda Faromet: Just on making the position, not on nominating anyone to fill it.

[11:03:57] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): or are we just voting to create a position and see what members are interested?

[11:04:00] Agenda Faromet: Right.

[11:04:03] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Ok.

[11:04:05] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Aye

[11:04:09] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): aye

[11:04:18] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): any opposed to the motion?

[11:04:44] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): the motion carries to establish the position

[11:04:54] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): So I think our bylaws need to be changed.

[11:04:59] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): To add it

[11:05:02] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): yes

[11:05:03] Agenda Faromet: That's the understatement of the year.

[11:05:08] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn) laughs

[11:05:12] Faye Blackheart giggles

[11:05:12] Agenda Faromet: ...Oh, you meant to add the position.

[11:05:25] B. C. (baeric.constantine) is online.

[11:05:37] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): Elizabeth, I can email you a resolution for that amendment

[11:05:38] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I had better not mention that c-word again, not the four-letter one

aye

[11:06:34] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): this is the slate, amended to have Ellen as Treasurer

[11:06:40] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i move the slate as amended

[11:06:43] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): is there a second

[11:06:50] Faye Blackheart: I second

[11:06:56] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): all in favor of this slate?

[11:06:58] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): aye

[11:07:00] Faye Blackheart: aye

[11:07:00] Agenda Faromet: Aye.

[11:07:00] Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): aye

[11:07:06] Jerkwad Borkotron: agreed

[11:07:12] Elizabeth (elizabethesq): aye

[11:08:04] Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): the slate as amended is approved by the members

[11:08:05] Agenda Faromet is offline.

[11:08:05] Jerkwad Borkotron: bye agenda

[11:08:14] Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Bye!
