[2016/01/09 09:54]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Hello everyone!  Happy New Year!

[2016/01/09 09:54]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Well, I propose this.

[2016/01/09 09:54]  Starlight Darkmatter: hi

[2016/01/09 09:54]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Let's get a live concert on the schedule and give the concept a whirl.

[2016/01/09 09:55]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): chris & i can coordinate it

[2016/01/09 09:55]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I think that it should be a benefit concert, for some worthwhile charity.

[2016/01/09 09:55]  Starlight Darkmatter: Apologies if I appear to anyone as a white cloud today

[2016/01/09 09:55]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): you're fine

[2016/01/09 09:56]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I think that's a good idea Sam.  People come out much more if there's a good charity involved as well.

[2016/01/09 09:56]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): You look lovely Starlight!

[2016/01/09 09:56]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): who would we like to benefit?

[2016/01/09 09:56]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I am not sure which charity - maybe the Bernie Sanders for President campaign?

[2016/01/09 09:57]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): You are on a roll today, Sam.

[2016/01/09 09:57]  Starlight Darkmatter: The American Cancer Society is in SL (or they were) and they raised a lot of money in the past with their fundraising events

[2016/01/09 09:57]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): /me grins.

[2016/01/09 09:57]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Maybe the membership can decide?  There's always Wounded Warrior.  That tends to draw crowds and I can say something at the vet's sim

[2016/01/09 09:57]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): That could even involve getting more young people interested in SL.

[2016/01/09 09:57]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): mhm

[2016/01/09 09:57]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): either would be good

[2016/01/09 09:58]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I think a lot of the more conventional charities are already taken, aren't they?

[2016/01/09 09:58]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): They always do Relay for Life on SL too, but we may think about putting up a display for that this year.  They typically have a theme and lots of people go to see all the things there as well

[2016/01/09 09:58]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Yes, I support RFL - when is that?

[2016/01/09 09:58]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Can we get involved somehow?

[2016/01/09 09:59]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I think that is a separate idea from a concert though.

[2016/01/09 09:59]  MystiTool HUD 1.3.1: Entering chat range: EllenSRoss Resident (5m)

[2016/01/09 10:00]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): hi ellen, welcome

[2016/01/09 10:00]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Good morning Ellen.

[2016/01/09 10:00]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I would suggest that we identify a lesser known charity and reach out to them.

[2016/01/09 10:00]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Hi all!  Will we be using voice today? I don't have my headset on, but can put it on

[2016/01/09 10:00]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Does Wounded Warriors have a sL presence?

[2016/01/09 10:00]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I will find out about RFL.  With regard to this concert, there are a good number of charities we can look into.  I know that WW always gets a good draw.  But there are tons of alternatives

[2016/01/09 10:01]  Starlight Darkmatter: Are we aiming for a charity that is not already in SL?

[2016/01/09 10:01]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): There have been concerts for their benefit, but I don't know if they are themselves on SL.  There is a large veteran's sim that I belong to in my alt, and they are good to reach out to for something like this.

[2016/01/09 10:02]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Taking that as a "no" on voice

[2016/01/09 10:02]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): It sounds ike we have identified a theme for the Elizabeth Esq. Administration..

[2016/01/09 10:02]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me giggles

[2016/01/09 10:03]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Sorry Ellen!  I can't get voice to work, am trying but for some reason not connecting my mic with SL at the moment

[2016/01/09 10:03]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): I would prefer written transcript so I can post it

[2016/01/09 10:03]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): shall we try to coordinate the concert for march?

[2016/01/09 10:03]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Text only is fine, just wanted to know if I needed to put on my headset.

[2016/01/09 10:03]  Starlight Darkmatter: http://www.forbes.com/top-charities/list/#tab:rank

[2016/01/09 10:03]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I am having the same problem, actually, but I was blaming it on Elizabeth.

[2016/01/09 10:04]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): March might be too soon as we are already in mid January, but perhaps April?

[2016/01/09 10:04]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): any objections?

[2016/01/09 10:04]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Objections to what?

[2016/01/09 10:04]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): to a concert in April?

[2016/01/09 10:04]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Having the fundraiser concert in April?

[2016/01/09 10:05]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): /me smiles.

[2016/01/09 10:05]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): That all sounds good.

[2016/01/09 10:05]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Is this a resolution

[2016/01/09 10:05]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): ?

[2016/01/09 10:05]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Elizabeth organizing a live concert for the benefit of WW in April.

[2016/01/09 10:05]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): I so make the motion

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Starlight Darkmatter: second

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): all in favor?

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Aye

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Aye

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Aye

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Starlight Darkmatter: aye

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Aye

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): aye

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): very well the motion carries

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Second Saturday in lieu of the regular meeting?

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we will need to see who is available to perform

[2016/01/09 10:06]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): We can aim for that and see who we can get to perform.

[2016/01/09 10:07]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs as we are on the same wavelength

[2016/01/09 10:07]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Sounds like a good target.  I don't think we need a resolution on the date and exact time

[2016/01/09 10:08]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I would like to resurrect the earlier discussion about occupancy of offices.

[2016/01/09 10:08]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Tim, your announcement mentioned that there would be some long term planning today, and I presume this concert is the first part of that long term planning.   By the way, since I have been getting so deeply involved in KittyCats breedables, part of my long-term plan for 2016 is to develop a presentation on the law of breedables, but I don't have anything ready yet and probably won't be ready for months.  So this is strictly for future reference.

[2016/01/09 10:08]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Office rentals - OK - I am one of the people not currently renting

[2016/01/09 10:08]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): How is our occupancy rate?

[2016/01/09 10:08]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): sam - agreed. ellen - great! love to put you on the calendar for 2016 for a presentation on that

[2016/01/09 10:08]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you Ellen.  That is great!

[2016/01/09 10:08]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): That sounds really good, Ellen, about your presentation.

[2016/01/09 10:08]  MystiTool HUD 1.3.1: Entering chat range: Agenda Faromet (10m)

[2016/01/09 10:09]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Good morning Agenda

[2016/01/09 10:09]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): hi agenda, welcome & happy new year

[2016/01/09 10:09]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): HELLO AGENDA!!!!!!!

[2016/01/09 10:09]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Hi Agenda!  Happy New Year!

[2016/01/09 10:09]  Agenda Faromet: Morning, all! Happy New Year!

[2016/01/09 10:09]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Welcome home.

[2016/01/09 10:09]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I have been so busy in both RL and SL that I haven't prepared a thing yet!  Hi Agenda

[2016/01/09 10:10]  Starlight Darkmatter: Welcome

[2016/01/09 10:10]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): so our discussion earlier was whether to reduce the rental rates on offices for members here at this level of the sim

[2016/01/09 10:11]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): current rates overall mean we are breakeven or a little ahead on tier each month

[2016/01/09 10:11]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Lower rates would certainly make renting more attractive.  Realistically, this is a donation.  I never generated any business from my in-world office

[2016/01/09 10:11]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we have about 507,000L in reserve as of today in the association

[2016/01/09 10:12]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we have a total of 12 rentals of a total of 29 units on the sim

[2016/01/09 10:12]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): (including the 9 lots downstairs at sea level)

[2016/01/09 10:12]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs, about to ask.

[2016/01/09 10:12]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Anyhow, what I was saying before you came in Ellen is that we have a lot of vacant offices, and quite a bit of money, so we shold consider not charging rent for the offices int he village and make them available as a perk of membership.

[2016/01/09 10:13]  Agenda Faromet: /me raises her hand.

[2016/01/09 10:13]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): THat's a lovely idea.

[2016/01/09 10:13]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i believe we have 12 available offices here on this level

[2016/01/09 10:13]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): go ahead agenda

[2016/01/09 10:14]  Agenda Faromet: While I totally love that idea (as a renter), haven't we had money problems in the past? Wouldn't removing a revenue source be problematic in the future?

[2016/01/09 10:14]  Agenda Faromet: (I'm mostly playing devil's advocate: I think it'd be /much/ better for us to have full offices out there).

[2016/01/09 10:14]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we have 507,000L on account

[2016/01/09 10:15]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Just to be clear, that doesn't include the parcels down below, correct?

[2016/01/09 10:15]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): reducing the rent up here would mean we dig into our reserve

[2016/01/09 10:15]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I think we have too much money on hand based on our reason for existence.

[2016/01/09 10:15]  Starlight Darkmatter: Could 1 year of free office rentals be used to bring in new lawyers or paralegals who might like to try SL?

[2016/01/09 10:15]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): starlight, sure

[2016/01/09 10:15]  Agenda Faromet: That's a great idea.

[2016/01/09 10:16]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Parcels below do not dount.

[2016/01/09 10:16]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you, that's what I thought Sam.

[2016/01/09 10:16]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): count.

[2016/01/09 10:16]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): If someone wants a sea-level parcel, they can rent them.

[2016/01/09 10:16]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): The Village is for offices, the sea level parcels are for homes.

[2016/01/09 10:17]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I agree, let's try it for a year.

[2016/01/09 10:17]  Agenda Faromet: Also (putting on my Builder Hat): since the advent of mesh, land impact / prim use has dropped significantly. We could relax our requirements on prim limits.

[2016/01/09 10:17]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Free offices as a benefit for dues paying members sounds like an excellent idea and it sounds like we can afford to offer it.

[2016/01/09 10:17]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I agree on all counts.

[2016/01/09 10:17]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Builder hat and all. :-)

[2016/01/09 10:18]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): I move that we reduce all office rents at 900m to 25L/week for 2016, leaving sea level rents at 6000L per month.

[2016/01/09 10:18]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I move that beginning immediately, for the calendar year 2016, we offer offices in the Villge rent free as a perk of membership.

[2016/01/09 10:18]  Agenda Faromet: ...With the caveat that items must be mesh (which means, old pre-2009 items are probably a no-no. They're going to be way too big, land-impact-wise.)

[2016/01/09 10:18]  Starlight Darkmatter: What about putting an ad in a legal journal or something to advertise the free year of office rental to draw in new members?

[2016/01/09 10:19]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Free is better because some people may not maintain L$ balances at all

[2016/01/09 10:19]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Ypu spit out your motion before I could type mine, tim.

[2016/01/09 10:19]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): If you aren't well versed in mesh and non-mesh, it can be a little confusing.  I get mesh, and still can't figure out what is or isn't that way.

[2016/01/09 10:19]  Agenda Faromet: Wait.

[2016/01/09 10:19]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs, just my two cents.

[2016/01/09 10:19]  Agenda Faromet: We /should/ have a nominal fee.

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I think membership in the SLBA is still required to get it, no?

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): elizabeth, yes

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda, i agree

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): That's my thought.

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): 25L/week is way below market

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): So if free.

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): is*

[2016/01/09 10:20]  Agenda Faromet: Otherwise, you can't — code-wise — tell who has rented an office, and you'll have people moving in to offices "claimed" by other people. Also, there would be nothing to stop random non-SLBA people from taking offices.

[2016/01/09 10:21]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Good point.  I concede.

[2016/01/09 10:21]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): $L25/week

[2016/01/09 10:21]  Agenda Faromet: /Also/, a nominal fee allows us to see when an office is no longer being used. If Joe Schmoe logs on, rents an office, and never logs on again, we don't want to keep his office occupied. We have limited space.

[2016/01/09 10:21]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): for basically US$5 per year

[2016/01/09 10:21]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): As for advertising in a RL legal journal, that can be costly and where would we do so since most of us are from all over the place.  Yes, Agenda, you are correct that it can become a bloodbath! Virtually speaking of course.

[2016/01/09 10:22]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): That's a great idea.

[2016/01/09 10:22]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i can look into what it would cost to advertise in the ABA Journal online

[2016/01/09 10:22]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): At least the relevant section.

[2016/01/09 10:22]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): What is it, Science & Technology?

[2016/01/09 10:22]  Agenda Faromet: Tim, you might reach out to specific committees, such as the virtual worlds and multiplayer games committee, and ask if they'll advertise for you within the committee.

[2016/01/09 10:23]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Can the rental boxes be configured to group only?  That would avoid the "random non-SLBA people taking offices" issue, and if people are renting through a rental box, it should be possible to track them easily

[2016/01/09 10:23]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you Tim.

[2016/01/09 10:23]  Agenda Faromet: I could mention it at the next Copyright & Social Media meeting, for instance.

[2016/01/09 10:23]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Is ther a C&SM Group?

[2016/01/09 10:24]  Agenda Faromet: /me nods. "There's a committee."

[2016/01/09 10:24]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me smiles, "That would be great Agenda!"  We would end up increasing membership and getting more people to use the office space.

[2016/01/09 10:25]  Starlight Darkmatter: ABA Journal ($9.45 per word):

Second Life Bar Association (http://slbarassn.ning.com) free legal office with membership dues payment. $113.40

[2016/01/09 10:25]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): How about if the new members get free concert tickets?

[2016/01/09 10:25]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:26]  Starlight Darkmatter: "Reach nearly half of the nation's 1 million-plus lawyers by placing your classified ad in ABA Journal, the leading publication for practicing attorneys in all areas of law and in firms of all sizes."

[2016/01/09 10:26]  Starlight Darkmatter: http://www.abajournal.com/mediakit/product/classified_advertising

[2016/01/09 10:26]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Does anyone ever read the ABA Journal?

[2016/01/09 10:27]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): so it would cost about 30,000L to run the ad once in the ABA journal

[2016/01/09 10:27]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Is that the online ad or in the magazine that goes out?

[2016/01/09 10:27]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I have been a member fo the ABA since 1969, and have never read the journal.

[2016/01/09 10:27]  Starlight Darkmatter: That is the print rate

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i get and read it

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Really?

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Agenda Faromet: Aww, I read the journal every time I get it. ...I don't ever read the ads in the back, though,...

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I read the journal most of the time.

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Interesting.

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda, agreed, not sure the impact

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i've requested a media kit for online advertising on their site

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Unless I fall behind, but am pretty good about going back to read it.  I rarely look at the ads unfortunately.

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Agenda Faromet: I've even had an article in the IP Section's magazine.

[2016/01/09 10:28]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): That's awesome!

[2016/01/09 10:29]  Starlight Darkmatter: Maybe writing an article would be better. It is free and gets more coverage.

[2016/01/09 10:29]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Did it generate any traffic?

[2016/01/09 10:29]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): frankly, i think agenda's offer to present it to the committee will be more impactful

[2016/01/09 10:29]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Me too.

[2016/01/09 10:29]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Another thought.

[2016/01/09 10:30]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): If hardly anyone reads the ads in the back of the ABA Journal, that doesn't sound like a good investment.  I would suggest more promotion on Facebook - that seems to be what people actually see these days.

[2016/01/09 10:30]  Agenda Faromet: I think we need to know our market. An ad in a print journal for a virtual office in a virtual world? Maybe not the best direction. We might need to advertise where — exactly, Ellen.

[2016/01/09 10:30]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I really think that we should generate some posters that can be placed in strategic locations for casual visitors to see and refere back to.

[2016/01/09 10:30]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Also good

[2016/01/09 10:31]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me nods at both ideas

[2016/01/09 10:31]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Do we have a Facebook page?

[2016/01/09 10:31]  Agenda Faromet: *cough* Not all of us use Facebook *cough*

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Understood.

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me smiles

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Nonetheless, some fo us do, and lots of folks who are not part of our group do as well.

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Agenda Faromet: Not to say we shouldn't have one! We should! But I don't know if we have one.

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Linked in?

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Sucks.

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): More of a professional site as opposed to FB.

[2016/01/09 10:32]  Agenda Faromet: A LinkedIn group would be nice.

[2016/01/09 10:33]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Just as a reminder, we still have our NIng group.

[2016/01/09 10:33]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Again, I spend a lot of time trying to avoid Linked-In.

[2016/01/09 10:33]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:33]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): The Ning Group - both of them - have not done well either as far as I know.

[2016/01/09 10:34]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): /me nods.

[2016/01/09 10:34]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): FaveBook has a amuch better chance of reaching people, I thinl.

[2016/01/09 10:34]  Agenda Faromet: I agree.

[2016/01/09 10:34]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Facebook.

[2016/01/09 10:34]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I don't think I have been on Ning or LinkedIn for more than a few minutes at a time in the past year.

[2016/01/09 10:34]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Facebook, on the other hand - lots of time there, on pretty much a daily basis

[2016/01/09 10:35]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): My point.

[2016/01/09 10:35]  Starlight Darkmatter: We have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SL-Bar-Association-44288107757/

[2016/01/09 10:35]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I know, I know, I know.

[2016/01/09 10:35]  Agenda Faromet: Facebook is exactly where we should be advertising, and it's a much better forum for us.

[2016/01/09 10:35]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Who are the current mods for the page?  Looking

[2016/01/09 10:35]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): There are a lot of things that are pretty good on there too Sam. Once every few weeks is enough for me, but it's professional for the most part, so you have a different audience.  Both have their definite priorities.  On FB, most of us go on daily but it isn't for professional reasons like our practice and SLBA.  I think if they are both free, we might consider both.

[2016/01/09 10:36]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Who has the rights on the Facebook page, I wonder?

[2016/01/09 10:36]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): At one point we had two Facebook pages.  Not sure if we still do

[2016/01/09 10:36]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): yes there are two

[2016/01/09 10:36]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i think kate fitz was the moderator of the one

[2016/01/09 10:36]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): not sure of the other

[2016/01/09 10:36]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): neither is active

[2016/01/09 10:36]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Who can make entries?

[2016/01/09 10:37]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): When I have posted to that page it was as a "visitor" because I don't have the rights to post as the page.

[2016/01/09 10:37]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Can we take it over?

[2016/01/09 10:37]  Starlight Darkmatter: Legal Writer is the manager of the FB page and the URL is wrong

[2016/01/09 10:37]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): THe other thing is this.  Unless someone is friends with the page or someone who  posts to the page on their personal page, no one will see it.

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): We need to fix that.

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): steve wu has not been in-world for a long time, but we could ask him for help to add another moderator

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): If we make it more active (having a page moderator who is actually on FB a lot would help) it is likely to get more shares

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): We all need to be able to access it.

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): There has to be something to share first   :-)\

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): April benefit concert

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Law of  Breedables

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): Ellen's talk later this year on legality o breedables

[2016/01/09 10:38]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): free office rent for SLBA members

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we are cool

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): with a membership

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Copyright and social media.

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): we've got plenty to work with

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): so cool.  I think we need very cool leather jackets.

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Last post as the page was in 2011.   Something like the free office offer would be a wonderful thing to post as the page

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Bernie Sanders Memorial Fund.

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): For some reason, Grease popped into my head.

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I know, I'm dating myself now.

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Awww, Sam.

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:39]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): jeb bush memorial fund

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Who?

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I started a group but pretty much nobody joined ....   https://www.facebook.com/groups/1469611543290168/

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): (sam started it)

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): you mean JEB?

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Why don't we use your group Elizabeth?

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): And you can be the moderator

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Yaay1

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): !!!

[2016/01/09 10:40]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): What group?

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): sorry, I mean Ellen

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): lol

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Does that link work for you, Elizabeth?

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): No worries!  I got worried for a moment?

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Can there be multiple moderators?

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Sure

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Yes, the link worked well! Thank you!

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): That's what I would suggest.

[2016/01/09 10:41]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): ok, there is a resolution pending on the table concerning office rent to 25L/week for 2016. is there a second?

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): If we can't get control of the page, we can use the group instead.  It would just cause confusion to start yet another page

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I second Tim's version

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): all in favor of the rent resolution?

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Agenda Faromet: Aye

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): aye

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): aye

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): aye

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Tim, can you restate it?

[2016/01/09 10:42]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Hmmm, I would prefer the free option, but if the 25L one is the only one being considered .....

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Agenda Faromet: For those who have already paid, will our rent be refunded or prorated?

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): Resolved that all office rent on Justitia be set to 25L per week during 2016 open to all SLBA members.

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): 2016rent in the village for SLBA members set at $L25/month

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): 25L a week is not too shabby.  I think I just paid enough rent to cover myself for a year!

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda, i will add time to everyone who has already paid

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): All right, even though I prefer free - aye.

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Agenda Faromet: Awesome. Thanks, Tim.

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me giggles

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Aye

[2016/01/09 10:43]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): $L25 / week.

[2016/01/09 10:44]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): anyone opposed?

[2016/01/09 10:44]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Not at all

[2016/01/09 10:44]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): the motion carries

[2016/01/09 10:44]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i will update the rental units on casperlet today

[2016/01/09 10:44]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Awesome!  Thanks for that Tim!

[2016/01/09 10:45]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): is there a motion concerning facebook and the group ellen has started?

[2016/01/09 10:45]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): This is turning out to be a good meeting.

[2016/01/09 10:45]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I am not sure if a motion is really necessary

[2016/01/09 10:45]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): That it is!

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): If you want to designate that group as our new "official" channel for communication through Facebook, I will so move

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Agenda Faromet: Let me address Ellen's hesitation for a moment: Ellen, are you concerned because new players to SL don't have money, thus won't be able to pay the nominal fee?

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I move that we take advantage of Ellen's offer to use her FB site as the official site of the SLBA and that we all be added as moderators.

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Correct.  Lots of new residents don't get Lindens at all

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Agenda Faromet: Because the offices would only go to SLBA members, and you can only be a member after paying the L$500 membership fee.

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): well they can't join the SLBA without paying 500L in dues either, so the rental discount won't help them

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Even if the rent is free, they would need to get a membership fee paid anyway.

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): I don't want to be a moderator

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:46]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): but agree with the first part of the motion

[2016/01/09 10:47]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Friendly amendment - NOT YOU GERI!

[2016/01/09 10:47]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Sometimes people will make a one time currency purchase but not want to pay weekly, but I accept that I am outvoted on that point.  25L it shall be.

[2016/01/09 10:47]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): is there a second of the motion so amended?

[2016/01/09 10:47]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): If we join the page, we can all post items to the page without being moderators.

[2016/01/09 10:47]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): This is a group, not a page.

[2016/01/09 10:48]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Sorry, I meant group

[2016/01/09 10:48]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): There is also a page - two of them, I believe - but I don't have control of either of those and can only post as "visitor"

[2016/01/09 10:48]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I belong to several moderated groups, and we can all add whatever we would like to on it.

[2016/01/09 10:48]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): The group we can control ourselves

[2016/01/09 10:48]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I can tweak the settings however people wish, and add anyone as a moderator who wishes to be added

[2016/01/09 10:49]  Agenda Faromet: Ellen: to clarify, when we talk about L$25/week, this is not a fee that has to be paid every week. It's something that can be paid in a bulk sum. Someone could pay L$1300 and be set for a year.

[2016/01/09 10:49]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): agenda - exactly

[2016/01/09 10:49]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): True, the boxes can be set up that way.

[2016/01/09 10:49]  Agenda Faromet: And they currently are set up that way.

[2016/01/09 10:49]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): correct

[2016/01/09 10:49]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): But if we're going to have rent, maybe we should encourage people to log in at least once a month, if not once a week

[2016/01/09 10:50]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Otherwise people might forget that they have an office at all

[2016/01/09 10:50]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): yes, ellen, as members to come to our monthly meetings, etc

[2016/01/09 10:50]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): So allowing payments monthly rather than annually might encourage more activity

[2016/01/09 10:50]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): True, but some things we have little control over. The hope is that they come, join, get a space, and come!

[2016/01/09 10:50]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I doubt that, actually.

[2016/01/09 10:50]  Agenda Faromet: True. It's good to nudge people. However, right now we don't actually evict people. I mean, Sam forgot to pay his rent for like /weeks/ and I didn't kick his furniture out. SAM.

[2016/01/09 10:50]  Starlight Darkmatter: One problem with the FB moderator status.... most people use their RL name for their FB account and not their avatar name. Just FYI. I'm more than happy to be one of the moderator but that means not being anonymous.

[2016/01/09 10:51]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:51]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I agree.  I just realized that too.

[2016/01/09 10:51]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Shows how often I have been on line, Agenda.

[2016/01/09 10:51]  Agenda Faromet: /me laughs.

[2016/01/09 10:51]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): Alright, the motion pending is tabled

[2016/01/09 10:52]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): After I joined the group.  I try to keep my RL away from my SL unless there is good reason to let someone know who I am in RL, i.e. a client, etc.

[2016/01/09 10:52]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): The last item on the agenda is to formally pass the gavel to Elizabeth as our incoming President

[2016/01/09 10:52]  Agenda Faromet: I agree with Elizabeth.

[2016/01/09 10:52]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Hmm

[2016/01/09 10:52]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I created this alt specifically for business.  As most people here know, I'm usually online as Ellen Ireland

[2016/01/09 10:52]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): and I have several other alts as well

[2016/01/09 10:53]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I would expect that most people who are at all familiar with SL would want to separate their business identity from their leisure identity

[2016/01/09 10:53]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Me too, but I don't have a FB presence as my SL person.

[2016/01/09 10:53]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): I appreciate the concerns, but I think they are ovderblown.

[2016/01/09 10:53]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Maybe but it's still something to consider.

[2016/01/09 10:54]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Agreed.

[2016/01/09 10:54]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Creating an alt for business is such an easy thing to do that I can't see it being a major obstacle

[2016/01/09 10:54]  Agenda Faromet: There are many very valid reasons not to use Facebook. I don't. However, it remains the best way to reach out to a lot of people.

[2016/01/09 10:54]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): Elizabeth, you now are the President. Please congratulate our new president everyone!

[2016/01/09 10:54]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Congratulations!

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Agenda Faromet: If we have members who are willing to use Facebook and do the reaching, fantastic!

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you!  I have a business alt on SL, I just don't have one on FB.  LOL

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): i am now officially a back bencher. lol

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Agenda Faromet: Also, woo hoo, congrats and welcome, Madam President!

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you everyone!  No back benching allowed Tim!

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): objection

[2016/01/09 10:55]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): So the real life identity on Facebook can be tied to the business alt in SL

[2016/01/09 10:56]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! President Elizabeth I.

[2016/01/09 10:56]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Your Majesty!

[2016/01/09 10:56]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I don't have a business FB page at all.  LOL.  No worries, I'll figure it out.  *laughs*

[2016/01/09 10:56]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): Thank you Tim for all of your hard work for the past two years

[2016/01/09 10:56]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Oh dear!  No pressure at all!

[2016/01/09 10:56]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): I'll be glad to help with the business FB page.

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Thank you Tim !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): I only hope I can do half the job that Tim has done here.  I have some hard shoes to fill between Tim and Sam before him.

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Great job.

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you for giving me a great model of how to do this job!

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): yet another peaceful handover of power. democracy works. lol

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): We can make you presdient for four years.

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Geri Kahn (geri.kuhn): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Agenda Faromet: Now, to take over the world!

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me chokes

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Starlight Darkmatter: Oh sure, I step away from the computer and miss the hand off... Congrats Elizabeth :)

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Twice as long to do the job.

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): /me laughs

[2016/01/09 10:57]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Thank you Starlight!

[2016/01/09 10:58]  Elizabeth (elizabethesq): Let's take it day by day, shall we?  *laughs*

[2016/01/09 10:58]  Tim Faith (yoss.kamachi): lol

[2016/01/09 10:58]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): Well, yor fisrt job is to recruit a successor.

[2016/01/09 10:58]  Ellen S Ross Attorney NY State (ellensross): Not me!  *runs*

[2016/01/09 10:58]  Sam Courtois. Esq. (sam4.courtois): That took Tim forevder.

[2016/01/09 10:58]  Agenda Faromet: NOT IN THE FACE NOT IN THE FACE
